What to drink what to drink what to drink…..the age old question. I find myself staring at a shelf full of odds and ends I’ve accumulated and think “I just want something delicious and easy.” So we are compiling a monthly run down of what those delicious and easy things are. I believe you will find them useful come Wednesday. After all it is the middle of the work week and there is no time or need for extravagance. Let’s just cut to the chase, enjoy a tipple, relax and go to bed. So without further ado I give you What We’re Drinking Now: September Addition.

Aperol Spritz

There is no time or place that isn’t fitting for this concoction. A zippy, refreshing,visually attractive crowd pleaser. Kinda like a peacock. It’s a bird...but so much more...and yet still just a fancy lookin chicken.

  • 3 oz Prosecco

  • 2 oz Aperol

  • 1 oz soda water

Directions: Fill a glass with ice. Pour in ingredients. Give it a quick stir. Drop in an orange wheel.

Such and Such and Soda

Much like a choose your own adventure, this gives freedom to plug and play as much as your want.

  • 2 oz vodka (or gin, or tequila, or mezcal, or rum)

  • .75 oz Chartreuse (or genepy, orBoomsma Cloosterbitter)

  • .5 oz lime juice (or lemon or grapefruit)

  • 4 oz soda water (or tonic)

Directions: Add ingredients to a glass. Top with ice.

Old Fashioned

What’s so great about an Old Fashioned? They are hard to mess up (if you follow the rules). They are quick and easy. They have booze in them. Follow these simple guidelines and you will never go wrong: and Old Fashioned is comprised of bitters, sugar, spirit. That is all. 

  • 2 oz bourbon (or rye, or rum, or mezcal, or tequila)

  • .25 oz simple syrup (or agave, or honey, or maple syrup)

  • 3 dashes Angostura bitters (substitute anything your interested in) 

Directions: Add ingredients to a glass. Add a few cubes of ice. Stir and garnish with a lemon twist.
